Fred and Maggie Heard have what would be considered by most to be a highly successful career in the trucking industry. They have worked side by side for the past twenty-five years. After they married in 1980, Fred came off the road to help Maggie with her equestrian business. Maggie’s career, prior to meeting Fred, had been raising, training and transporting horses. Fred had been driving ever since he left the military.
Their dedication and hard work produced profit but not what they felt they could make as carriers. In 1981 Fred helped Maggie obtain her CDL, then they signed on with Tri- State Motor Transport out of Joplin Missouri as team drivers.

Today Heard Transportation is an extremely successful trucking company. With 16 trucks, contract drivers for the trucks and a facility that houses their offices, maintenance and yard, they employ a full time staff that helps keep the business growing and moving forward.

Based in Rydal GA, Heard Transportation primarily hauls outbound freight for their regular customers. “Getting the outbound freight has never been a problem. Getting backhauls from anywhere in the 48 had always been difficult. That is until we found The Internet Truckstop. We’ve been with them since their very beginning back in 1995 and they’ve never let us down. In fact, we find 100% of our backhauls and some of our outbound freight from The Internet Truckstop. They’re the greatest thing since Maytag. Of course we’ve tried the others but they always fall short. The Internet Truckstop has played a big part in helping us to get to where we are today. They have always kept and continue to keep our trucks loaded, moving and profitable!“
and after twenty-five years …
Maggie and Fred celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary in late 2005. “The trucking industry can be very hard on couples. For us, working together has kept us together and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it.” says Maggie.
What’s next for Heard Transportation? Well that depends on who you ask. Fred would like to see 25 trucks as the next step. Ask Maggie and she’ll tell you “16 trucks is plenty of work as it is.” Whatever direction Heard Transportation takes, you can be sure of one thing:
